DOVER - Marion Haas passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2016. She was born June 20, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pa. the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Streba) Slanina. Marion worked for TWA Airlines after college living in DC, NYC and then Wilmington, Del. There she met her future husband and they began their life at Greenlawn Farms near Dover. After she started her family, she was a Civil Service Employee until retirement. During retirement Marion enjoyed traveling over the world, was involved with Modern Maturity RSVP program, NARF, participated in Read Aloud Delaware which was of particular interest to her, learned American Sign Language, and was a volunteer at BayHealth Hospital in Dover. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, crossword and other puzzles and enjoying time with her grandchildren. Marion is survived by her daughters, Carol Haas Young of Dover, and Barbara Ann Haas of Frederica; grandson, Gregory Young (Kelly); grandchildren, Sean and Megan of York, Pa.; her brother, Melvin Slanina of Tucson, Ariz. and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where viewing will be one hour earlier. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Read Aloud Delaware, 9 E.
