DOVER - Marian Elizabeth Zeh passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. She was 85. Ms. Zeh was born March 19, 1923, in Calverton, N.Y., daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Zeh. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer, Roger, and Winfred Zeh. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Zeh and his family of Middletown, and Richard Zeh and his family of Calverton, N.Y. Ms. Zeh was a 6th grade teacher for over 30 years in Uniondale, N.Y. She was a world traveler sometimes taking family members with her. She was a distinguished artist. She enjoyed painting watercolor pictures and attending art shows. She was very talented as an artist but she also loved to play the piano. She was a downhill ski racer, winning many medals and she also skied in many countries around the world. She enjoyed going down to the Long Island Sound to swim and spend time at the beach house. She returned home to the family farm in Calverton after retirement to help her brothers. She loved to work in her flower garden and take care of all of the cats that strayed onto the property. Ms. Zeh never married but she had many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own. She later moved to State Street Assisted Living in Dover. She made many friends during the short time she was there. She enjoyed sitting and chatting with them each day. Her wonderful sense of humor will be missed very much. Services will be at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Tuthill Funeral Home, 406 East Main Street, Riverhead, N.Y., where viewing will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be at the Riverhead Cemetery immediately following the service.
