Felton - Marion Elizabeth Haines passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, in Country Rest Home, Greenwood.
Marion was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Woodbury, N.J., to the late, Kenneth and Elizabeth (Miller) Thorne. Her childhood was spent close by in Paulsboro, N.J., with her parents , and two brothers. She attended Paulsboro High School where she met the "love of her life", R. Carlton Haines, who she later married, and spent 64 wonderful years together before his passing in 2011.
After living on a farm in Thorofare, they moved their four children to a farm in Felton. She worked for many years in Lake Forest School District as a paraprofessional. She also worked in retail both during, and after retirement, and volunteered at Milford Hospital for many years.
Marion was known for sending cards, sharing her flowers, taking pictures and her smile.
Marion and Carlton remained at the farm until they both retired, then sold the farm and built a home, also in Felton, to be near their daughter. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will be dearly missed.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Raeman Carlton "Cy" Haines (2011); two brothers, Malvern Hill Wood and Kenneth Edward Thorne; and her grandson, Robert Jason Kemble.
Marion is survived by her son, Kenneth M. Haines and his wife, Wanda; three daughters, Susan Haines Grant, and her husband, Royal E. Grant, III, of Felton, Bonnie Haines Voshell and husband, Ronald R. Voshell, Sr., of Felton and Nancy Haines Kemble and husband, James Kemble, of Townsend; grandchildren, Wendy and John Leo Walter, David Carlton Chambers, Kelli and Tommie Dale, Becky and Dan Gaffney; John Chambers, Wade Carter, Benjamin and Rachel Haines, Katie and Ashley Williams and J. Adam and Carrie Kemble; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Keavy, Brett, Nova Rae, Elyssa, Wil, Nathan, Raegan, Conrad, Thomas, Emory, Jude, Luke, Jasper, Daniel, Samuel, Griffin, Cain Raeman, Opal, Emmett, Ace, Pepper Jane, Mary Lynn, and Stirling; step-grandchildren, Kimberly Willman, Ronald R. Voshell, II, and Amy String; ten step-great-grandchildren; and special niece, Judy Venuto and husband, Michael.
A special thanks to friends who could always make Mom laugh.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may gather two hours before. Burial will be private.
