
Marion D. Wilson
CLAYTON - Marion D. Wilson of Clayton, Delaware passed away peacefully as a resident of Brookdale Nursing Home on June 24, 2021. Born November 26, 1932 in Eskridge, Kansas to Marion E. and May (Tuff) Wilson, Marion was raised on the family farm. During his time on the farm, he raised popcorn to sell at local movie theaters. He enjoyed fishing and hunting on the family farm and he received his father's mechanical skills. Marion drove a truck before joining the United States Air Force in 1953 and becoming a flight Mechanic on C-47 and C-54 aircraft.
It was while stationed at Dover AFB that he met Pat (Madeline) Langrell at the Wagon Wheel in Smyrna. They were married in 1957 and settled in Clayton. Marion worked at Kent County Motors, Civil Service at the Dover Air Base, Boeing Helicopters, and retired from Atlantic Aviation in 1989.
Marion was predeceased in death by his wife, Pat; and parents.
He is survived by his son, Kevin and his wife Pam; two granddaughters, Alison Pedigo and Ashley Carrow; two great granddaughters, Alexis and Alyssa Steele; two step great granddaughters, Victoria Grace (Vickie G) and Aubrey Pedigo; and a great grandson on the way Bowen Carrow.
The Wilson family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Nursing Home who treated dad like one of their own.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers donations can be made you your favorite charity.
