CAMDEN - Mariene G. Abbott, a resident of Courtland Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Camden, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Kent General Hospital, Dover. Mariene was born on Feb. 9, 1925 in Rising Sun, Del., daughter of the late Westley and Luella (Coverdale) George. She was a graduate of Caesar Rodney, Class of 1943 and had worked as a secretary for W.T. Derrickerson of Dover for 40 years. Mariene enjoyed flower gardening and was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church of Dover. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Roland Abbott; and her sister, Beatrice Gooden. Mariene is survived by her son, Gary Roe and his wife Beverly, of Camden; granddaughter, Sherry Colyer of Felton; niece, Mary Sherwood; nephew, Kenneth Gooden, both of Woodside; and close friends, Etta Moyer and Rose Bryant both of Dover. Service will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Trinity Wesleyan Church, 1564 South State St., Dover, DE 19901 or the Camden-Wyoming Fire Co., 200 E. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Camden, DE 19934.
