HARRINGTON - Marie E. Buck passed away peacefully Sat., Aug. 31, 2013 surrounded by family, one week shy of her 93rd birthday. Born and raised in Bloomfield, N.J. where she attended Bloomfield High School and helped the war effort at Westinghouse Manufacturing during WWII. She later became one of the first official woman police officers for the Bloomfield Police Department. After moving to Delaware she was active at the Harrington Senior Center, delivered Meals on Wheels, and read for the ReadAloud Program. Marie was predeceased by her husband, David T. Buck. She is survived by a daughter, LaMarr Pittenger of Bedminster, N.J.; and a son, David C. Buck of Harrington, Del.; three granddaughters, Mary (husband Glenn) Mohrman of Long Island N.Y.; Kristin (husband Scott) Stickland of Del., Ohio; and Lisa Buck of Wilmington, Del.; two grandsons, John Pittenger of Belvedere, N.J. and Mark Tozer of Satellite Beach, Fla.; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. A funeral service will be at Price Funeral Home, 6 Dorman Street, Harrington on Wed., Sept. 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Judes Childrens Hospital in her memory. There will be no viewing, but friends may call at 9:30 a.m. for a family visitation prior to the service.
