DOVER - Marian R. Marker, 98, of Dover, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, at her home. She was born on June 8, 1913, in Chesworld, to the late Thomas and Lavania Ford Shackell. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and taught Sunday School and was an active member of the Friendship Bible Class. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and loved to cook for family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Marker in 2003; a daughter, Pauline Frebert Haddock; four sisters, Myrtle Hufford, Ester Davis, Audrey West, and Lillian Tracy. She is survived by son, Curtis C. Marker of Dover; grandchildren, Michael C. and his wife Diane Frebert of Dover, Craig C. and his wife Nancy Marker of Townsend, Kevin S. and his wife Kelly Marker of Ashburn, Va., Karen S. and her husband Rob Frebert-Szymczak of Middletown, and Jody L. and her husband Julio Garcia of Middletown; and ten great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be given to Wesley United Methodist Church and/or to a charity of your choice.
