Marian Louise Messick

Marian Louise Messick, 72

FARMINGTON - Marian Louise Messick of Farmington died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 72.

Mrs. Messick was born in Farmington, daughter of the late William C. and Mildred G. Gray.

She lived and grew up on the same farm on which she was born.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Messick took care of the family farm, raising chickens and quarter horses for mor than 54 years. She and Bill showed their quarter horses all over the country and brought many trophies home with them. At one time, they even had a world champion mare. They were so busy and such hard workers, always on the move.

In her spare time, she enjoyed raising Australian shepherd puppies.

Mrs. Messick was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Farmington Fire Co. She was also a member of the Delaware Quarter Horse Association.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, William "Bill" Messick of Harrington.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may attend a visitation Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
