HARRINGTON - Marian Anderson, age 84, of Harrington, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford, surrounded by her loving family. Marian was a devout member of Metropolitan Church in Harrington, where she served tirelessly throughout the years in many capacities. She worked for private families and businesses in and around the Harrington area all of her adult life, retiring just a few months ago. She worked most of her adult life for the Curt Conley Insurance Agency of Harrington. Mom Marian as referred to by many was a "culinary genius." Her masterpieces were her giant pots of chicken & dumplings. She took great pride in seasoning and rolling out each and every dumpling to meet her personal satisfaction. In addition to being preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edith Harris-Johnson, she was also predeceased by her husband, Solomon Anderson; sisters, Anna Lee Johnson, Lucille Mosely, Delema Taylor, Virginia Benson; and brothers, Curtis, Bobby and Bill. She is survived by daughters, Doris (John) Brown, Carolyn (Ronald Brockett) Anderson, Selma (James Nichols Jr.) Anderson; sisters, Edith Harris and Gloria Jean Jones; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, at Metropolitan Church, Harrington, where the Rev. Occala Horsey will deliver the eulogy. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Interment in Williamsville Cemetery, Williamsville. Professional services provided with care and compassion by Harris-Nock Funeral Home in Laurel.
