DOVER - Margaret Mary Jesse passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2021, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.
Margaret was born on May 1, 1931 in St. Helen's Lancashire, UK. She came to the United States in 1951 as the young bride of a handsome American Airman and love of her life Donald G. Jesse to whom she was married for 57 years. They settled in Dover in 1956 where they made a happy life together. Margaret was known as a successful businesswoman in the field of cosmetology where she owned and operated several beauty salons until she retired. She was appointed to the Delaware Cosmetology Association by Governor Charles L. Terry, Jr. and during her tenure served as Vice President, Chair and Past President. She enjoyed running the business, teaching others her trade, and the lasting friendships she made over many years.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Donald; and her daughter, Sheryl Lynn Outten.
She is survived by her sons, Donald G. Jesse, Jr. (Lolita) of Lewes, Del., Brian A. Jesse (Jan) of Wyoming, Del.; and her daughter, Sandra A. Jesse who lived and lovingly cared for her at home over the past six years. She is also survived by three grandsons, Justin Jesse (Lisa) of Havertown, Pa., George Hurley (Crystal) of Dover, Del., Brandon Jesse (Jen) of Virginia Beach, Va.; and seven great grandchildren, Bethany, Dylan, Joshua, Asa, Micah, and Josiah, Brayden, Colin and Hunter (Rosie).
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 12 Noon, Monday, June 28, 2021 at The Church of The Holy Cross, 631 S. State St. Dover, DE 19901. Interment will follow in Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover. Family and friends are invited for visitation 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover, DE 19901.
