Margaret Ellen Burns

Margaret Ellen Burns, 81

MILLVILLE - Margaret Ellen Burns of Millville, formerly of Baltimore, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, in Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. She was 81.

Mrs. Burns was born in Baltimore on Sept. 12, 1926, daughter of the late Reginald and Anna (Borchard) Downey.

She retired after 18 years of service as the secretary for the Department of Education.

Mrs. Burns is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Norman T. Burns; two sons, James Edward Dickerson and Brian Jeffrey Burns; a brother, Kenneth Wayne Downey; and a grandson, Matthew James Dickerson.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View, where friends and family may call after 10:30 a.m.
