DOVER - Margaret Ann Moore Brown passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2017, from complications of heart and renal failure. Maggie was born in New York City, N.Y., on Sept. 17, 1942, to the late Clifton C. Moore and Margaret M. McNeill Wood. She was a graduate of Dover High School, Class of 1960. She worked for Acme Markets, and later as a consultant for Home Interiors for 17 years. Prior to retirement, she worked for 15 years as a CNA for Courtland Manor nursing home. Maggie married Merritt W. Brown on Dec. 10, 1961. They just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last month. She was a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church of Dover and enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, antiquing, eating crabs, and traveling, especially to Florida to visit her beloved sister, Lucy. Maggie was proceeded in death by her brother, David McNiell. She survived by her loving husband, Merritt; daughters, Mary Margaret "Peggy" Minner, of Harrisburg, Pa., Meredith Hawthorne and husband, Rob, of Hartly, Melissa Harpster and her husband, Richard, of Dover; grandchildren, Kraig and his wife, Amanda Minner, Bryan Minner, Kyle Minner, all of Harrisburg, Pa., Darren Helwig and Rachel Harpster, of Dover; sister, Lilly-Belle Scott "Lucy", of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; nieces, Tammy Singleton, Gretchen Miller, and Michelle Murphy; great-granddaughters, Evelynn and Mackenzie Minner; and step-granddaughter, Emily Hawthorne; and step-great-grandson, Alex Minner. Friends may visit with family on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, DE 19901, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon in the funeral home.
