Marceil Payk, 82
DOVER - Marceil Payk, of Dover, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 82.
Born May 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Chester D. and Nellie I. Reece.
She graduated from Decatur Central High School in Valley Mills, Ind., in 1943, and later attended the John Herron School of Art at Indianapolis.
She was married at Fairfield Friends Meeting in April 1952.
Mrs. Payk was a loving wife, mother and a devoted homemaker. She loved children and enjoyed associating with them.
She had served as a Brownie Scout Leader while living in Hawaii and was active in teaching children in Vacation Bible School classes for many years.
Later in life she constructed several doll houses along with the furniture they contained.
A lover of animals, especially cats, Mrs. Payk carried food during the winter months to feed strays found roaming near Dover shopping centers.
She always kept peanuts on hand to feed the many squirrels that came begging at her door.
Her little acts of kindness will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her, along with the many critters that have depended upon her.
Mrs. Payk leaves her dedicated husband, William Payk; a daughter, Carolyn Payk; and son, Michael Payk, all of Dover; a brother, Howard Reece of Mooresville, Ind.; two nephews, Howard Reece Jr. and Harold Reece; and a niece, Bonnie Rednour.
Friends may call starting at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main St., Camden, where memorial services will begin at 3 p.m.
Instead of flowers, family suggests donations in her memory to the American Alzheimer's Association, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Dover.
