Madeline Dorothy Wise, 90
DOVER - Madeline Dorothy Wise of Dover passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 90.
Mrs. Wise was born July 8, 1916, in Coburn, Pa., daughter of the late Cedin and Beulah Musser Burd. She and her 10 brothers and sisters were raised on dairy farms in Coburn and Aaronsburg, Pa.
She graduated from an Aaronsburg school.
She was a member of Eastern Star and several Masonic Lodge auxiliary organizations in Dover.
Mrs. Wise hand tailored many ceremonial articles for the Masonic Blue Lodge of Dover. She was a dedicated homemaker, an avid baker and gardener, accomplished seamstress and a much loved nurturer of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel A. Wise; and a son, Richard E. Wise.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Doris M. and Donald Betts of Magnolia, Hazelle E. and Bill Kaylor of Meridian, Idaho; a son and a daughter-in-law, Thomas A. and Marilyn Wise of Frederica, a daughter-in-law, Gail Wise of Massachusetts; two granddaughters, Deborah Saunders of Wyoming, Del.; Kathy Meredith of Felton, grandchildren, Randal Wise of Magnolia, Lisa Wise of Massachusetts, Laurie Gerhard of Ellendale, Donald Betts Jr. of Milford, Alexander Betts of Dover, Robert Wise of Texas, Sharon Gooch of New Hampshire, Kenneth Wise of California, Trent Kaylor of Idaho, Teri Brown of Oregon, Janet Masters of Idaho; a brother, Nevin Burd of Centre Hall, Pa.; and a sister, Irene Fohringer of Millheim, Pa.
Private services will be 4 p.m. Thursday in Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
Burial will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
The family requests memorial contributions to Barratts Chapel Cemetery Memorial Fund.
