Lynnette 'Lynn' Egloff, 79
DOVER, DE - Lynnette "Lynn" Egloff passed away at her home on April 20, 2023 with her loving husband by her side.
Lynn was born on October 8, 1943 to William and Daisy Schutts of Lackawanna, NY. After Lynn graduated from Hamburg High School, she went on to work at a bank with a co-worker who would later introduce her to her future husband.
In 1964, Lynn met James Egloff on New Years Eve. Lynn and Jim married in December of 1966 and went on to have three children; Jason, Julie, and Kate. Lynn and Jim traveled the country in a convertible early on, moving from the Buffalo area all the way to Hawaii due to Jim's military service. From Hawaii, they moved to Virginia, and then finally settled in South Brunswick, New Jersey for over 30 years. In that time, Lynn became a member of the Miller Memorial Presbyterian Church, first as a Sunday school teacher and then superintendent. She also was a building chairperson, treasurer, and elder, where she helped to make it possible for the little, red church to build a new school addition.
Lynn also became a member of the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad, eventually becoming the first female president from 1987-1989. In that time, she developed friendships that would last a lifetime.
Lynn worked her way up to become the Personnel Manager of the Molecular Biology Department at Princeton University. In her time there, she met, worked with, and changed the lives of a diverse group of people from all over the world and occupations; from glass washers to Nobel prize winners. Lynn was incredibly hard-working, driven, intelligent, and could pen a letter better than most.
In 2002, Lynn retired and spent her time gardening, reading, golfing, playing cards, crafting/stamping, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren. In her retirement and upon moving to Delaware, she continued to keep busy, joining her HOA, membership at the Wesley United Methodist Church, and various clubs. Lynn particularly enjoyed the Sprig and Twig Garden Club, in which, she at one time was appointed president. Her time with the Garden Club was very special to her, as were the friends she made.
Lynn was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Bonnie Howard.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim; and children, Jason (wife Melissa), Julie (husband Michael), and Kate (husband Andrew); grandchildren, Emily, EJ, James, Abigail, Sarah, and Owen; as well as, brother, Terrence Schutts; and sister, Cristol Metro.
She will be remembered for her impossible strength, her dry humor, her green thumb, her amazing penmanship, how quickly she could hang up the phone, and for the amazing impact she made on the lives of those around her. Lynn loved being a Nana, teaching her grandchildren how to bake, decorating for every holiday, and creating a strong family legacy.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree or flowers in her honor or donate to Fahlo or 4ocean to support some of the things she loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 12th from 11-2 at the Dover Elks Club in Dover, DE.
