FREDERICA - Lyndon R. Donaway passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 18, 2021 surrounded by those he loved, after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Swazanna and Ray Donaway, Jr.
Lyndon, or Lynn as he was known to everyone, worked for Burris Foods for over 35 years in the warehouse, freezer and as a forklift operator. He was a dependable worker who loved his job. As a teen, Lynn couldn't wait until he was old enough to join the Frederica Fire Co. which he belonged to for many years. In his spare time, Lynn liked to watch NASCAR racing, with Jeff Gordon as his favorite driver, followed by Chase Elliott. He also enjoyed watching football. When he could, Lynn enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and hanging out with his dog, Bub. He was always happy, and had a laid-back demeanor. Lynn loved his family greatly, and looked forward to getting together with them on a regular basis. A loyal friend that could always be counted on, Lynn never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Lynn's caregiver, Mitchell.
Lynn is survived by his siblings, Sue Holloway (Calvin), Randy Donaway (Merry), Barbara Wingate, and Lori Denkenberger (Eddie), and five nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Frederica Vol. Fire Dept., PO Box 283, Frederica, DE 19946.
Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc., Harrington, Del. Visit us at www.melvinfuneralhome.com to sign the online condolence book.
