CAMDEN-WYOMING, Del. - Lyda Mae Ellingsworth passed away peacefully on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Bayhealth Hospital. She was born April 23, 1933.
She was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Flornell Rhodes Lock of Bowers Beach.
Lyda married Fred Ellingsworth (Jr.) in June 10, 1950.
Lyda worked and retired from Playtex Plant in Dover in 1995 after 35 years. She worked at Caesar Rodney School District in the cafeteria for 12 years after she retired from Playtex. She was a Charter Member of the Women of The Moose, Chapter 1546 at Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge. She loved to crochet, cooking and camping in Chincoteague, Virginia for many years. She also loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching the Orioles play and watching NASCAR as Jeff Gordon was her favorite, she loved eating crabs and shrimp. Playing Bingo with Lamar and doing crafts, making pizza at State Street Assisted Living.
In addition to her parents, Earl and Flornell; and two sisters, Audrey and Bernice; she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Fred Ellingsworth (Jr.) who passed in 2008.
She is survived by her two sons, Edward and wife (Helena), Fred and wife (Brenda) both of Camden-Wyoming, Delaware; five grandchildren, Don Ellingsworth and wife (Julie), Christina Turbitt, David Scott and wife (Lisa), Edward Ellingsworth and wife (Suzanne), Ashley Henry and husband (Mike); eight great grandchildren, Mandy, Samantha, Jarod, Jessica, Sophia, Ethan, Brynleigh and Ryan; and her dog, Jeffie, her little companion while she lived at State Street Assisted Living in Dover.
Graveside service will be held at Sharon Hills Cemetery on Thursday March 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in her name to the Grass Roots Rescue at PO Box 422 Milton, Delaware 19968.
Arrangements are made by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, Delaware.
