CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - SSG. Luke C. Yetter, of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Dover, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born in Dover on July 23, 1990, he was a son of James M. of New Castle and Rebecca A. (Cadmus) Yetter of Dover. Luke was a graduate of Polytech HS and Delaware Technical and Community College, where he earned a degree in electronics. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. After training, Luke spent a year in Afghanistan before being stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas. He was then accepted into the 160th Airborne at Ft. Campbell, Ky., where he became FMQ. During his illness he became a member of Wounded Warriors Project team.
Luke was always an amazing son, brother, husband, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He worked hard, played hard and studied hard. He was compassionate and loving, liked traveling and never stopped learning new things. Luke enjoyed wood working, snow boarding, hiking and trying new beers from all over the world.
Luke was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Charles "Mick" Yetter; maternal grandfather, Paul C. Cadmus, Sr.; and two cousins, Levi T. Wall and Tom Cadmus, Jr. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mary (Wessell)Yetter of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandparents, Martha Yetter of New Castle, Donald and Patsy Caron of Smyrna; brothers, Matthew Anders of Dover and James "Alex" (Christine) Yetter of Smyrna; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews. He will be sorely missed by a great group of family, friends, and co-workers.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Luke's honor to Ft. Campbell Fisher House, 652 Joel Drive, Ft. Campbell, KY 42223 or Wounded Warrior Project USSOCOM Care Coalition Bldg 6102, Rm 114, Ft. Campbell, KY 42223.
