Lucia Searles, 76
Lucia Searles peacefully passed on Monday, January 4, 2021 at around 2 a.m. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Lucia is survived by her four children, Joseph Searles, Reynald Searles, Lucinda Mercier, and Rose Crego; by her husband, Frank Rementer and his daughter, Shawn Beecher; by her grandchildren (all who brought her much joy) Hunter Searles, Charie Velle, Amara Searles, Bradley Crego, Racquel Crego, Julian Carr, Madison Owens, Eric Beecher, and Ashley Olivia Young; and three brothers, Raymond and Jimmy who live in Taiwan, Johnny in Montreal; and by her loving sister, Carmencita Lao Ngo, who lives in Dover.
Lucy was born in the Philippines on June 16, 1944. She strived for a better life for her two sons in America, and so she married John Searles and emigrated to the U.S. She landed in Dover, where she lived out her life and raised her four children. Lucy was a dedicated mother and she worked hard for every dime, at times working multiple jobs. Over her 28 years at Playtex, she made many friends, until she had a massive stroke in 2002.
For those who were lucky enough to have known Lucy, they knew she was many things: a hard worker, loving mother, a devoted Catholic, strong-willed, stubborn, independent, gracious, funny, and sociable. But most of all she loved life and the people around her. Everyone was family, and she treated everyone who walked through the front door as such. As kids, we referred to everyone as either Auntie or Uncle; and whenever Auntie or Uncle visited, we always shared a table.
A viewing is being held for her family and friends on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Evan W. Smith Funeral Service, 518 S Bay Rd., Dover, DE 19901.
Please say a prayer for Lucy. Rest in peace, Mom. May God keep your soul in heaven.
