Louise Seward Bowdle, 88

HARTLY - Louise Seward Bowdle, of Hartly, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at home in Hartly. She was 88. She was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Marydel, to the late Harry and Elsie Wheeler Seward. Mrs. Bowdle attended Greensboro School. She lived in New Castle from 1952 to 1998, and then moved to Marydel before moving to Hartly. She enjoyed her home in Castle Hills, and her flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Bowdle enjoyed camping in the Eastern United States, Canada and Mexico. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Benjamin Bowdle in 1996; her son, Samuel Bowdle Sr.; two brothers, Henry Seward and William "Billy" Seward; and four sisters, Blanche Duvall, Emma Lamb, Ida Freeman, and Jeannette Melvin. She is survived by one brother, Charles Seward of Florida; one sister, Elsie Toulson of Sudlersville, Md.; niece, Esther Melvin of Hartly; great-nephew, Matthew Melvin of Hartly; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9, in Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md., where visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. Interment will be in Lakeside Methodist Cemetery, Dover.
