DOVER - Mrs. Louise R. (Schofield) Walling, age 72, of Dover, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. A native Delawarean, Louise was born in Wilmington on Oct. 9, 1938, daughter of the late George and Suphronie (Chambers) Schofield. She was a talented homemaker throughout her life and was proud to support her husband's career by being a devoted and resourceful "Army wife." In her leisure hours, she enjoyed traveling, reading, bowling, and singing, but her real passion was attending to the needs of her family and delighting in their happiness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Jesse H. Walling. She is survived by her daughters, Judith and husband, Earl Desbrow, of Dover, and Catherine of Delaware City; granddaughters, Lynn and Rachel; great-grandsons, Jacob, Ryan, and Jason; brothers and sisters; extended family members; and numerous and dear lifelong friends made throughout her travels during her husband's military career. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the very special staff and friends working on the Holly Unit at Capitol Health Care. A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, where visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
