DOVER - Louis Zgoba passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. He was born in 1930 in the Ukraine. He was extremely proud of his Ukrainian hertiage especially since he survived living in a German concentration camp during his youth years. He came to the USA as a war orphan in 1945 where he was sponsored by a family from upstate New York. Later he found he had family in the Huntingdon, Pa., area where he lived until he was drafted into the Korean War and served in the Army in the Signal Corp. In the 1960's, he started a successful overhead door business with Paul Clark from Elsmere, which was known as Clark & Zgoba Garage Doors but later they split partnership and Mr. Zgoba formed his own business, Zgoba Garage Doors Sales & Service till 1985 when he retired due to an industrial accident. After his retiring, he traveled extensively all over the United States with his wife, Nancy, where they full timed motor homed until 2000. He was an avid hunter, hunting deer and geese. He was a member of the American Legion in Huntingdon, Pa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy in 2003. He is survived by his daughters, Fay Tally and husband David of Lake City, Fla., Cathy Jacobs and husband Richard of Clayton; son, Richard (Skip) Horn and wife Leona of Lake City, Fla.; two grandchildren, Linda Funk Hetteroth of Dover, and Robert Jacobs of Selbyville; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the American Legion Hall, Smyrna, Friday, Nov. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., where friends may visit with the family.
