SOUTHAMPTON, N.J. - Louis S. James of Leisure Towne, Southampton, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his home after a heroic battle against lung cancer. He was 72.

Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Southampton for the past 10 months, moving there from Long Neck, Del., and previously living in Bucks County, Pa., and North East Philadelphia.

The son of the late Charles and Elsie (Gold) James, Louis was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, Branch 157 in Philadelphia.

He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army and also a member of the American Legion.

Louis was an avid fisherman and boater, and enjoyed card games, casinos and cruises.

He was the beloved husband of 33 years to Carol R. (Giannini) James of Leisure Towne, Southampton; and the loving father of Louis C. James, Michael J. James, J. Robert James, Ruthann Coyle and George Dodd.

He is also survived by his brother, Solis James and his wife Bert; his sister, Beverly Stern and her husband Sandy; grandchildren, including Nicole Howard and her husband Johnny and Patrick Dunleavy Jr.; his beloved great-granddaughter, Destiny Nicole Howard; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, Medford.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family requests donations in memory of Lou to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
