Louis Joseph Wilhelm, 83

DOVER - Louis Joseph Wilhelm, of Dover, died Saturday. Jan. 10, 2009, in Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 83. He was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Hazelton, Pa., to the late John and Emma Wilhelm. Mr. Wilhelm was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served as a radio operator and gunner. During his military service he was awarded the Good Conduct Metal, Meritorious Unit Emblem, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory and Korean Service Medals. Mr. Wilhelm retired from the United States Information Agency in Washington, DC after 23 years of service. He served as a volunteer at the DAFB Museum for a short time. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Dover. Mr. Wilhelm was also was a member of the Businessmen's Full Gospel Group in Milford. He was a past member of the VFW in Camden and the DAV of Dover. Mr. Wilhelm especially loved spending time with his family. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Wilhelm. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Catherine Cooney Wilhelm of Dover; three sons, James Wilhelm and his wife Sally of Fairmont, W. Va., John Wilhelm of Eagleville, Tenn., Christopher Wilhelm and his wife Kim of Millersville, Md.; four daughters, Cathy Marketto and her husband Ralph of Magnolia, Beth Jones and her husband Bob of Salisbury, Md., Mary Bowie of Rocky Mount, Va., and Karen Carter and her husband Jim of Baltimore, Md.; his sister, Jeanne Wilhelm of Dover; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held noon Wednesday at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover, DE 19901.
