Louis John Mancuso, 88

DOVER - Louis John Mancuso, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in Kent General Hospital. He was 88. He was born on July 10, 1920 in Rochester, N.Y., one of ten children of the late Domenico and Antonina (Ricotta) Mancuso. Louis served his country in the United States Air Force for 30 years serving during World War II, Korea and Vietnam and proudly achieving the rank of Major at the time of his retirement. After his military career, he worked for the State of Delaware for the Division of Revenue from 1972-1982. He was an avid duplicate bridge player, achieving the level of Gold Life Master. Louis is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Kathryn Mancuso; five children, Michael L. Mancuso, of Lewes, Judy K. Vetter and her husband Richard, of Dover, Ann M. Rigby and her husband Harry, of Dover, John G. Mancuso and his wife Pamela, of Lewes, and Deborah S. Harvey and her husband John, of Dover; a sister, Clara Muto, of Rochester, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Mancuso, of Burlington, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, Molly M. Keehn, Melissa M. Mancuso, Megan M. Mancuso, Stephen Thimmes, Gregory Thimmes, Amy M. Metz, Michele L. Mihok, Holly M. Wood, John L. Mancuso, Katherine L. Hughes, and Jeffrey P. Harvey; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, where the family will receive friends one hour earlier. Burial will be private in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720-1633; or the American Diabetes Association, 100 West 10th St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
