Lorraine Steele

SMYRNA - Lorraine Steele, of Smyrna, passed away in her home on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010. She was 79. She was born to the late George and Gladys Smith in Smyrna Landing, and moved into town as a teenager. Lorraine enjoyed reading, bingo, playing the slots, gardening, traveling, and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Franklin; and her sisters, Gwen Rhoades and Verna Davis. Lorraine is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Marcum and Shelley Soriano; grandchildren, Jaime Marcum, Stephanie Smith, Jennifer Marcum, Jacob Smith, Autumn Smith, and Kristen Soriano; eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Edgar Smith and his wife Ruth. Services will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. Instead of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901. To send a condolence letter, visit www.delmarvaobits.com.
