Lorna M. Black Snyder, 55

LACEY, Wash. - Lorna M. Black Snyder, formerly of Milton, Del., passed away Monday, April 20, 2009, in her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 55. She was the daughter of Ralph Black of Houston, Del., and N. Ruth Schirmer of New Castle, Del. She was career military in the Air National Guard for 26 years and retired 4 years ago when cancer made it so she could no longer serve her country. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Black. She is survived by her mother, N. Ruth Schirmer of New Castle; and her children, Amber Dawn Jordan, 25, and Corey Snyder, 19, both of Lacey. Also survived by two sisters, Carol Carroll and her husband Ron of Greenwood, Del., and Evalyn Crews and her husband Doug of Elkton, Md.; and two brothers, Laurence Black and his wife Sharon of Middletown, Del., and David Black of Cheswold, Del. Memorial services will be Saturday, May 2, at Maranatha Baptist Church, 3141 Old Elk Neck Road, Elkton, where friends and family may call at 12:30 p.m. for family visitation and services will follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions made to your local hospice.
