WYOMING - Loreto S. Kitchen went home on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mrs. Kitchen was born Aug. 5, 1927 in the Philippines, daughter of the late Anastacio and Roberta Santos. During the occupation of her Country by Japanese forces during World War II, Loreto distinguished herself as a teenaged Corporal in the Philippines resistance movement, risking her life to aid the allies in their war against Japan. Mrs. Kitchen retired from A.F.S.S. in 1988. She was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, The Alliance of the Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary and the Circular Filipino-American Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Uriah C. Kitchen, Jr.; son, John U. Kitchen; daughter, Patricia M. Muzik; and grandson; Paul J. Muzik, Jr. She is survived by two sons, F. Steven Kitchen and his wife Christy, of Ocean View, and Uriah C. Kitchen III and his wife Janet, of Wyoming; daughter, Pamela A. Darling of Wyoming; daughter-in-law, Karen Y. Kitchen of Dover; son-in-law, Paul J. Muzik of Frankford; twelve grandchildren, Charlene Darling, James Darling, Mariah Gebhart, Mary Fisher, Bryan Muzik, Cody Kitchen, Uriah C. Kitchen, IV, Reanna Kitchen, Anais Quinones, Jesse Kitchen, Pamela J. Kitchen, and Elijah Kitchen; and eleven great-grandchildren, Jamie, Katie, Alice, Charlie, Erin, Payton, Olivia, Mia, Brianna, Siana, and Fed; and a special care giver, Lisa Good. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
