Linda Lee Mitchell, 55

CLAYTON - Linda Lee Mitchell, of Clayton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 55. Mrs. Mitchell was born Nov. 3, 1953, in Chester, Pa., the daughter of the late William E. Hilliard and Lillie Frye Hughes. She was a homemaker who loved her household plants and flowers, and enjoyed browsing and shopping at various stores. She was also an accomplished pool player from which she won several trophies. She is survived by her husband, Ricky Clinton Mitchell; a son, J.R. Hilliard of Clayton; a daughter, Cathy Baker and her husband Charlie of Clayton; a step-mother, Helen Hilliard of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two brothers, Roy Newlin and his wife Lynn, and Eugene Hilliard, all of Clayton; two sisters, Susan Newlin of Florida, and Barbara Melvin-Williams and her husband Steve of Smyrna; granddaughters, Brianna and Destiny Baker of Clayton; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 30, in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna. Viewing hours are Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
