Lillie Sue Thompson, 73

DOVER - Lillie Sue Thompson, of Dover, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 15, 2009. She was 73. Born March 15, 1936, in Cross Keys, S.C., to Glenn and Viola Gee. Lillie retired from Nabisco Bakeries after 29 years of service. Lillie enjoyed flowers, bowling, and traveling. She was a member of Calvary Baptists Church in Dover and of the Red Hats. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gilbert Thompson Sr.; three children, Carolyn Finch, Brenda Thompson and Gilbert Thompson Jr.; and son-in-law, David Finch. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, David, Jerrell, Durrond, DeJuan, Khyana, Rashon, Kamaya and Malik; one sister, Catherine Jeter and Edward Gee, and many extended family members and special friends. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Dover. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist church, Forest Ave (Route 8), Dover. Burial will be in Sharon Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Cancer Research Institute National Headquarters, One Exchange Plaza, 55 Broadway, suite 1802 New York, NY 10006 1-800-99Cancer, www.cancerresearch.org.
