Lillie Mae Lewis went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2021, with her family by her side. Lillie Mae was born on February 24, 1931 in Norfolk, Va. to the late John Thomas and Berdie Mackie Thomas.
Lillie Mae enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, sewing, gardening, reading the Bible, field ministry, going to conventions, assemblies, Kingdom Hall, and talking to people about Jehovah God. Lillie Mae would take anybody in her home, feed them and help them anyway she could. Time spent with family and friends meant the world to her, Her favorite saying without a shadow of a doubt, was "Hot Dog." Lillie Mae was loved by "Everybody."
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her daughter, Melvinia Odessa Lewis-Horsey; brother, John "Johnny Boy" Thomas; and great grandson, Tyree Lewis Jr.
Lillie Mae leaves to cherish her loving memories, two daughters, Lillie Mae Jackson (Romayne) of Harrington, Tonya Thomas of Lincoln; three sons, James Lewis (Bernice) of Lewes, Jesse Fitzgerald of Harrington, and Jesse Watson of Ellendale; nineteen grandchildren: Tyree Lewis, Lorenzo Lewis, Romayne Green, Jeremy Taylor, Jesse Lewis, Michael Lewis, Quentin Lewis, Dontre (Sarah), Sarina Lewis, Latisha Lewis, James Lewis (Martha), Omar Lewis, Yolanda Lewis (Tommy), Justin Lewis, Travis Lewis, Devon Miller, Andrea Riley, Khyla Riley, and Tyrone Hazzard; one special niece, Denise Bowman (Johnny); one special nephew, John Hazzard; one brother-in-law, Joseph Lewis of Norfolk, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Constance, Goldie, and Annie Mae Lewis all of Norfolk, Va.; one son-in-law, Donald Horsey of Ellendale; along with a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, Del. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11 a.m. A time of visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Masks are optional.
