SEAFORD - Lillie Mae Jacobs, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in Genesis Healthcare Seaford Center in Seaford. Lillie was born July 29, 1929, daughter to the late Lillie Mae Sampson and Frank Sampson of Seaford. She later married Elmer James Jacobs, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1986. Lillie attended Phyllis Wheatley School in Bridgeville. She did house cleaning for many years until she took sick. Lillie attended the United Assembly of Christ Church, founded by the late Pastor Willie Williams, and currently lead by Overseer Pastor George Cook. She was the head usher, and a very faithful one too. She enjoyed hand-stitching, sewing, and cooking, and taught her children also. Plus, she had a green thumb for plants. She loved her children and grandchildren. She shared a special bond with them. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Kane; and her siblings, Frank, Sherman, Louis, Henry, Alice, Marian, and Minnie Sampson. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sarah (Jerry) Mann, of Seaford; sons, Louis (Sandra) Kane, and Elmer (Rita) Kane, all of Seaford; daughters, Viola (James) Smith, of Bridgeville, and Gloria (Marvin) Smith, of Greenwood; sons, Kenneth (Betty Jo) Sampson, of Ellendale, and Allen (Myra) Sampson, of Bridgeville; daughters, Joyce Ann Sampson, of Seaford, and Helene (Darnell) Wise, of Dover; sons, Gary (Cheryl) Sampson, and Clarence Sampson, all of Harrington; 52 grandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; a special nephew who was called her brother, James Johnson Sr., of Seaford; godchildren, Alyssa and Alana Smith, of Greenwood; and her sisters-in-law, Helen Cherry, of Seaford, and Martha Cherry, of Dover. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at Refugee Temple Revival Center in Seaford. There will be a viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the center, and two hours prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Middleford Cemetery, Seaford.
