Posted

Lillian J. Gerth Heverin of Greensboro, MD, passed away peacefully at BayHealth in Dover on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Greensboro, Maryland on April 14, 1933. Mrs. Heverin was the daughter of the late Fred and Julia Gerth.
Mrs. Heverin graduated from Greensboro High School, Greensboro, MD. She spent her career working at Playtex in Dover, Delaware as a lab worker. After her career at Playtex, she went on to become a compassionate caregiver to several patients for over 35 years. She married the love of her life, Walter L. Heverin in Baton Rouge, Louisiana before his deployment to war overseas as a soldier in the United States Army. She came back to Maryland to live and after his return they settled in Henderson, MD, where they started their life together and a family, then eventually moved to their home in Greensboro where they raised their five children. In addition to their home in Greensboro, they also had a home in Florida where they would spend their winter months and built many friendships and memories over several years, especially the many visits from their family coming to visit them every year. Mrs. Heverin always said that the most wonderful gifts and success in her life were her family and friends. She was one of the best mothers, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend that you could ever ask for. She enjoyed so many things in life, like her many animals over the years, feeding and watching the birds, gardening, cooking for her family and friends, and traveling. She was a very generous and giving person to everyone and would help anyone she met. To know her was a gift and to have her in your life was a treasure. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and anyone that knew her.
Mrs. Heverin is survived by four children, Donna Myers (Milton) of Goldsboro, Terry Holden (Ronnie) of Goldsboro. Patty Shulties (Gary) of Greensboro and one son, Kenny Heverin of Greensboro; three grandchildren Amy Causey (Michael) of Ridgely, Kristy Corkell (Thomas) of Greenwood, DE and Travis Shulties of Greensboro; four great grandchildren; Chelsey Townsend of Hurlock, Kassidy Townsend (Tyler) of Milford, DE, Brooke Causey of Ridgely, and Katie Crist of Greenwood, DE; one great-grandchild Tyler Crist of Greenwood, DE; a sister Gloria Bishoff of Perry Hall, and a brother-in-law, Ralph Heverin of Smyrna, DE; along with several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat Sammey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Walter L. Heverin; her daughter Beatrice Frase; a sister Marjorie Mccann, her sister-in-law Daisey Bailey, and her cousin Richard (Dicky) Cheesman.
At Mrs. Heverin's request, there will be no funeral service, just a private life celebration dinner for the family. If friends wish to make memorial donations to a charity in memory of Mrs. Heverin, they can be made to the Caroline County Humane Society, at 407 Belle St., Ridgely, MD 21660.
