LEWES - Lillian (Sorrell) Charles of Lewes passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in the Lewes Convalescent Center. She was 89.
Mrs. Charles was born May 23, 1918, in McAllister, Okla., daughter of the late Rufus Elbert and Lillie (Harris) Sorrell.
He lived in Lewes full time for the last 25 years; before her move to this area, she was from Delaware County, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Charles Sr., in 2002; and a daughter, Sydney E. Abrams.
She is survived by two sons, Samuel M. Charles Jr. of Lewes and Harry J. Charles of Rehoboth Beach; a daughter, Barbara Allison of Swarthmore, Pa.; seven grandchildren, one of whom she raised as her own son, Wally Abrams of Seaford; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Reah Bosley of Bonham, Texas.
All services are private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
