DOVER - Lillian C. Trahan, of Dover, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 85.
Born in San Antonio, she was the daughter of the late Frank T. and Guillermina Reyes Cadena.
She had been a long time area resident and had spent most of her life as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was a proud Air Force wife and loved to travel with her family.
Mrs. Trahan was a giving person who spent most of her free time involved in activities that benefited others.
She had been an active member of the U.S.O. at Dover Air Force Base where she was recognized by the U.S.O. for her dedication and efforts.
Mrs. Trahan had also been an active member of the Red Cross, BRAVO at the Dover Air Force Base, Modern Maturity Center, Dover, the Ladies Auxiliary in both the Walter L. Fox Post of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus Council 4182, and she was a devoted member of the Holy Cross Parish where she served as a senior crusader.
Among her other activities included dancing, crocheting, and many treasured moments spent with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Trahan will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Trahan; and a sister, Gloria Cadena.
She is survived by five sons, Robert C. Jr. and his wife Joyce Trahan of Waterman, Ill., Clifford J. and his wife Clara Trahan of Leandor, Texas, Edward F. and his wife Susan of Newark, Michael S. and wife Kathy Trahan of Conrow, Texas, and Anthony J. Trahan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Lillian and husband Greg Kindig of Milford, Marguerite Trahan of Dover, and Annette and husband John Hodges of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Adrienne Urrutia of Brentwood, Calif.; two brothers, Frank Cadena of New Port News, Va., and William Cadena of Austin, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call starting at 9 a.m. Monday in the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Church, Dover.
