HARRINGTON - Lester A. Kersey Jr. of Harrington passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 79.
Mr. Kersey was born in Viola, son of the late Lester Sr. and Bertha Kersey.
He loved working and, after many years of driving a truck for Playtex, he retired and was employed with Kent County Motors as a delivery driver, where he continued to work until the time of his death.
He also loved gardening, farming, camping and listening to bluegrass music.
Mr. Kersey was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 534, Harrington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Kersey; and a sister, Bernice Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Johnnie (Gaines) Kersey; nine children, Cindy Kemp of Felton, Sharon Kemp of Harrington, Terry Coleman and Larry Coleman, both of Lynch, Md., Bob Coleman of Smyrna, Sally Coleman of Chestertown, Md., Kay Sigler of Morristown, Tenn., Russell Kersey of Lynch and Tonya Bell of Felton; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Barratt"s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
