MILLSBORO - Leslie "Les" H. Vogts of Millsboro, formerly of Wilmington, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at his home. He was 64.
Mr. Vogts was born in Oak Orchard, son of the late Maurice and Nancy (Spiros) Vogts.
He was a retired parts manager.
Mr. Vogts was a very dedicated volunteer fireman. He was the past rescue captain for the Elsmere Volunteer Fire Co. He joined the Indian River Volunteer Fire Co. in 1986, where he was a life member and vice president of the company and the former deputy chief.
Mr. Vogts was also a Delaware State Fire School instructor.
He enjoyed fishing and his dogs, E.B. and Rusty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three nephews, Micky Holdsworth, Allen Vogts and Charles Roche.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Deborah J. Vogts; a daughter, Deborah Harbaugh and her husband Chuck of Pittsburg, Pa.; a son, Steven C. Deery Jr. and his wife Susan of Oak Orchard; four sisters, Thelma Lathem and husband Danny of Laurel, Nancy Vogts of Millsboro, Catherine Casey of Milford, and Carolyn Vogts of Milford; a brother, Maurice Vogts of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Sydney Deery, Kelly Boulden and Anthony Messick; a great-grandson, Braden; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 2:30 p.m.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Indian River Fire Co., 32628 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
