Leroy Pleasanton, 69

FREDERICA - Leroy Pleasanton of Frederica died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was 69.

Mr. Pleasanton was born March 31, 1937, in Dover, son of the late Nattie and May (Cook) Pleasanton.

He was an iron worker for Local Union 451, retiring after 25 years. After his retirement, he became a self-employed painter, owner of C&L Painting.

He was very passionate about beagles. He was a dedicated member of the Diamond State Beagle Club since 1957, at the age of 20. He won numerous Kennel of the Year trophies and made a win with "Bayside One Spot," who was a championship dog.

Mr. Pleasanton loved yard work, gardening and planting flowers. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and being with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking for his best friend, his wife. He was a very giving man and helped anyone who needed it.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Emit, Carl, Chet and Earl; a sister, Grace; and a great-grandchild, Chelsea Asbury.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Charlotte of Frederica; a son, Dale Pleasanton of Farmington; five daughters, Cindy Murphy of Camden, Donna Roswell of Felton, Rae Ann Kane of Millsboro, Tammy Cole of Harrington and Leona Yeakel of Frederica; two brothers, Howard Pleasanton of Hartly and William Pleasanton of Dover; a sister, Lillian Foracher of New Castle; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
