Leroy Cox, 75

HARTLY - Leroy Cox, of Hartly, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at home. He was 75. Mr. Cox was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Lebanon, to the late Lee Cox and Grace Glanden Cox. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Cox worked for Reichold Chemical as a cryogenics technician retiring after 25 years in 1998. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, ballroom dancing and was instrumental in creating Dover Dance Club. Mr. Cox was a life member and past President of Hartly Volunteer Fire Company and the Clayton VFW. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen Millman. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gertrude Langowski Cox of Hartly; son, Michael Cox of N. Plainfield, N.J.; daughter, Cheryl Silves and her husband Kenneth of Hartly; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Emma Cox of Hartly, Allan and Beverly Cox of Lincoln, Robert and Cheryl Cox of Frederica, George and Vicki Cox of High Springs, Fla.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Earl Shane of Smyrna, Naomi and Tom Brazeale of Richland, Mo., and Cindy and Robert Sanderson of Dover; five grandchildren and spouses, Aurora and Allen Thompson of Hartly, Adam Cooke of Milton, Jordan Cox of N. Plainfield, N.J., Kenny and Heather Silves of Dover and Eric Silves of Dover; four great-grandchildren, Alexia, Hunter, Miranda Thompson and Christian Cooke. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolences may be sent, and guestbook be signed, at torbertfuneral.com.
