Leo T. Donnellan, 73

DOVER - Leo T. Donnellan of Dover died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, in Washington Hospital Center, Washington, from complications due to lung and heart failure. His family was by his side. He was 73.

Mr. Donnellan was born April 11, 1933, in Olean, N.Y., son of the late Francis "Frank" and Esther Westling Donnellan.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and then attended St. Bonaventure University in Allegheny, N.Y.

While working for Mohawk Airlines, he moved to Syracuse, N.Y., where he started his family and resided for 10 years.

Mr. Donnellan moved to Dover in 1973 to work as a computer programmer for Playtex International. He started his own business, Home Service Trends, a medical alert company in 1986, and retired in 2002.

He was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, and loved aviation. His quick wit, caring and warmth will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Mr. Donnellan was a parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church, an active member of the barbershop chorus and a volunteer in the Civil Air Patrol.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sally (Forrest) Donnellan; four sons, Paul of Washington D.C., Daniel and Steven, both of Chicago and Peter of Middletown, N.J.; three brothers, James of Minneapolis, David of Shoreline, Wash. and Jon of Ferndale, Wash.; two sisters, Nancy Beechler of Sun Lakes, Ariz. and Judy Barrett of Bellingham, Wash.; and eight grandchildren, Nicole, Matthew, Ryan, Valeri, Jack, Forrest, Morgan and Sophia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Wednesday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
