Lee E. Daly Jr., 88

LEWES - Lee E. Daly Jr. of Lewes, formerly of McLean, Va., passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007, in his residence. He was 88.

Mr. Daly was born March 9, 1919, in Baltimore, son of the late Lee Eugene and Marie (Garrity) Daly.

He was a decorated hero in World War II, serving in the 28th Division of the U.S. Army. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, and he never filled out his papers for the Silver Star.

Mr. Daly was a passionate sportsman and an avid golfer. He was a member of the Rehoboth Beach Yacht & Country Club.

He and his wife moved to Sussex County in 1979.

Mr. Daly was a member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church, where he served as an usher.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Daly was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemarie H. Daly, in 2002; and his daughter, Mary Lee (Daly) Jones.

He is survived by two daughters, Rosemarie (Daly) King and Adele Carroll (Daly) Guiliano; a sister, Marianna (Daly) Edmunds; a granddaughter, Kathleen Kerry McEvily-Davenport; a grandson, Keegan Michael Jones; and a great-granddaughter, Julia Paige Davenport.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles and Laurel street, Rehoboth Beach, at noon on Saturday, April 21. Interment will be private.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
