CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Lavoura Montgomery Shinberg of Chestertown died on March 29, 2007, in Washington Hospital Center, Washington. She was 91.
She was born in Chester, Pa. on June 21, 1915, the daughter of the late Vernon J. and Florence Walton Montgomery.
She was a graduate of Chester High School, Chester.
Mrs. Shinberg worked with B.P. and later Reynolds Metal, from which she retired in 1977.
She was the wife of 37 years to the late Jules Jack Shinberg who died on Sept. 13, 2001.
She and her husband had resided in Eddystone, Pa. until they retired to Chestertown in 1979.
She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Eddystone.
Mrs. Shinberg enjoyed cooking, swimming, crabbing, needlepoint, boating and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Hugh Shinberg of Parsippany, N.J. and Robert Hancox and his wife, Lorry of Eddystone; a daughter-in-law, Linda Hancox of Aston, Pa.; two sisters, Florence Slack of Dover and Shirley Trosino of California; a brother, Vernon Montgomery of Wilmington; two grandchildren, David Hancox and his wife, Katie and Brian Hancox; one great-grandchild, Luke Hancox; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Dennis Catholic Church in Galena, Md., where relatives and friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be in Crumpton Cemetery, Crumpton, Md.
