Laurence F. Peer

DOVER - Laurence F. Peer passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at home. Mr. Peer was born Oct. 2, 1934 in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Lawrence and Mary Peer. He served in the United States Navy for six years. Mr. Peer was a mechanic for Kraft Foods for 37 ½ years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2, and a life member of the BPOE Elks Lodge # 1903, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling, and had been an umpire for the Dover Little League for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Peer; and brother, Donald Peer. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Loretta Blatz Peer, of Dover; sons, Larry and his fiancé, Anna, of Fresno, Calif., Alan and his wife, Laurie, of Temple, Pa., Eric and his wife, Dawn, of Newark, and Donald and his wife, Dawn, of Dover; and his grandchildren, Benjamin, Adam, Daniel, Melody, Sarah, Faith, Sophie, Madelyn and Steven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Holy Cross Food Pantry, or the Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614-2256. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
