Laura Mae Council

SMYRNA - Laura Mae Council passed away on July 28, 2015 at Hillside Center in Wilmington, Del. Mrs. Council was born April 18, 1925 in Gesseytown, Pa., the daughter of the late Roy L. Rogers, Sr. and Mary Grace Miller Rogers. She worked for Leeds Travelware in Smyrna and for Woolworth's in Milford, Del. Laura was a member of Kenton United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of the David C. Harrison Post #14 of Smyrna, the Modern Maturity Center and was a Meals on Wheels Volunteer at Peach Circle in Smyrna. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence F. Council, Sr.; a son, Robert Lee Council; three brothers, Roy L. Rogers, Jr., Shelby C. Rogers and Richard G. Rogers; and a sister, Betty Rutter. She is survived by her sons, Clarence F. Council, Jr. and his wife Judy of Clayton, and David R. Council and his wife Marsha of Smyrna; a grandson, Stuart Council; a great grandson, Cameron Council, and his sister, Madison Tiernan; a brother, Clifton S. Rogers; sisters, Mary Blimline, Shirley A. Lourey and Cleo Griscom; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kenton United Methodist Church, PO Box 188, Kenton, Del. 19955. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
