DOVER - Kristine Halulakos, formerly of Woodhaven, Queens, N.Y., passed away peacefully with friends and family at her side, Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008. She was 89. She was born in 1919 in Raritan, N.J., one of three daughters of Czechoslovakian immigrants, Paul Kucharek and Susan Hores Kucharek. As an adult Kris was an Elder in the Forest Park Reformed Church in Woodhaven, N.Y. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and volunteered at the YMCA in the children's programs. Kris married James Halulakos in 1941. She became a licensed broker and they worked together in the insurance business. They relocated to Dover in April 1998. Jim died in March 2007. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Vaughn, and Susan Halulakos, both of Dover; her granddaughter, Stacy Marcella, and her husband, Ted, of Windsor Locks, Conn.; her grandson, Gregory Vaughn, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her great-grandchildren, Sophie Kristine Marcella, and Jack Marcella. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Flo and Ed Wisk, of Georgetown. The viewing will be Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Trader Funeral Home, Lotus Street, in Dover. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at Presbyterian Church of Dover, South State Street. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. The family request that memorial contributions be given to Delaware Hospices, 911 S. Dupont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901; or St. Francis Hospital, 100 Port Washington Blvd., Roslyn, NY 11576.
