Kenneth R. Gardner

GREENWOOD - Kenneth R. "Ken" Gardner passed away at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018. Ken was born in Baltimore, Md. on July 11, 1945 to William and Maryann (Dieter) Gardner.
Ken proudly served his country from 1963 until 1967, receiving the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. After his honorable discharge, he worked in several different occupations, and retired from Verizon. He was a member of Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, enjoyed cooking, computer work and connecting with friends and family near and far through social media.
Ken is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carol (Evans) Gardner; her children, Beth Shaffer, Jennifer L. Mingora and husband, John, and Melissa Landis; and a brother, William Gardner, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd., Georgetown, on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at 7 p.m., with a time of visitation beginning at 6 p.m.
