FELTON - Kathleen Wilson-Sypniewski passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at Silver Lake Center nursing home in Dover. Mrs. Wilson-Sypniewski, whose first name until early adulthood was Agnes, was born July 13, 1938 in Baltimore, Md. She grew up primarily in Seaford, the eldest child of the late Benjamin T. "Tom" and Stella E. (nee Lewandowski) Wilson. She was a graduate of Maryvale Preparatory School in Brooklandville, Md., and of Trinity Washington University (formerly called Trinity College) in Washington, D.C. During 13 years of her early adulthood, she was a nun, bearing the name Sister Kathleen Marie, with the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur religious order, and was a school teacher with her Master's Degree in Special Education. She taught for several years in Baltimore, Md. schools. Resettling to New Jersey during the late mid-1970s, she thereafter taught in Atlantic City schools, retiring at the end of 2003. In 1992 she wed Bernard W. Sypniewski, who passed away in 1994. In late 2014 she moved to Felton, from Ventnor City, N.J., where she had resided for a number of years. Mrs. Wilson-Sypniewski enjoyed living at the beach during recent decades and loved dogs. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father in 1988; her mother in 2012; her brother, Franklin T. Wilson in 2009; and her brother, Michael J. David-Wilson on April 12, 2016. She is survived by sister, Cynthia M. Kuerner, of Magnolia; sister, Kathleen McLaurin, of Germantown, Md.; and brother, David P. Wilson, of Seaford; as well as by several nieces, nephews, and their children and families. Arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the SPCA.
