VIOLA - Katherine Marie Hand of Viola went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at home, surrounded by her family. She was 86. She was born June 21, 1925, to the late Ernest and Margaret Seeney. Mrs. Hand owned her own private nursing home. She enjoyed camping, sewing and going to yard sales. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sons, Clifford, Donald and Bobby. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Edward J. Hand, Sr. of Viola; daughters, Shirley Weathersbee of Cary, N.C., Doris Walton of Dover, Bonnie Basnight of Virginia Beach, Va., Beverly Thorpe of Harrington, Sandra Jolly of Magnolia, Nancy Rains of Harrington, and Deborah Edge of Smyrna; sons, Wayne Hand of Dover, and Edward John Hand, Jr. of Magnolia; twenty seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
