CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Katherine Jane (Savercool) Dixon of Chestertown died on Thursday, March 8, 2007, in Chester River Hospital Center. She was 60.
She was born in South Bend, Ind., on Nov. 3, 1946, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jeanne Van Dien Savercool.
She was a 1964 graduate of Duval High School.
In 1965 she married Louis Carl Buck Jr. They traveled extensively due to his career with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Upon his return from Vietnam they resided in Riverdale. In 1973 they moved to McConnellsburg, Pa., on Meadow Grounds Lake, where she was involved in raising her children and Tennessee walking horses.
In 1978 they moved to the Big Island in Hawaii, residing in Kona, where she owned and operated Ambassador Tours and Travel until 1989.
She then resided in Florida, continuing to work in the travel industry until returning to Annapolis in 1990.
After a relentless pursuit from Richard, they married in 2001 and established a residence in Chestertown to accommodate themselves and their numerous pets.
Mrs. Dixon was a devoted Elvis fan, loved music and enjoyed painting, crocheting, gardening posies and banana trees, and loved traveling.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chestertown.
In addition to her husband Richard Dixon, she is survived by three sons, Louis Carl "Jack' Buck III and his wife, Antonnette of Colorado, Daniel Buck and his wife, Andrea of Virginia, Joseph "Joe' Buck and his wife, Carri of Minnesota; a daughter, Laurie FiFita and her husband, Pasa of Hawaii; a goddaughter/niece, Carolyn and her husband, Chris Wode; a sister, Joan Brooke Van Dien Savercool; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three stepchildren, Rebecca Dixon, Richard Dixon Jr. and Russell Dixon and his wife, Traci; as well as numerous foster children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chestertown.
Relatives and friends may call today from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.
Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton.
