Armstrong, 22 DOVER-Justin Armstrong left this world on January 3, 2015 to be with his grandmother after a lifelong battle with an aggressive form of the Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). After being born on September 11, 1992 with this disease, he defied doctor's expectations that he would live to be only 2, then 7, then 11 years old. He actually ended up fighting his disease for an amazing 22 years, making him the longest living person ever to be born with SMA. He could often be found on Sunday hanging out with his dad, Tom Armstrong, as they watched their favorite football teams play. Justin graduated from Dover High School, class of 2013, in the top 10% of his class. He made this accomplishment while on life support, the only child from his school to ever do so. He loved wrestling, football, playing video games and going out to his father's establishment, Tom's Bullpen, to watch his favorite teams play. During his time on Earth, Justin touched a countless number of lives with his loving and compassionate demeanor. He was the kindest hearted person we have ever had the privilege of knowing. He was loved by many. Justin is survived by his loving father, Thomas E. Armstrong, Jr., who was also his lifelong caregiver and best friend. He is also survived by his mother, Stacy L. Evans; and his brother, Thomas Armstrong, III; his sisters, Tara Kessler and Sandy Lister; his paternal grandfather, Thomas E. Armstrong, Sr. of Talahassee, Fla.; his maternal grandfather, Al Evans of Dover; his paternal aunts, Karen Pollard, Deanna Hurd, Terry Favereau and Linda Armstrong Henry; along with his paternal uncle, Danny Brown. Justin also had 32 cousins and several VNA nurses, all who cared for him immensely. A funeral service will be 12:30 P.M. Sunday afternoon January 11, 2015 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Del. 19934. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Sunday from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
